Everyone was expecting a quick labor based on the births of the other three children. That’s exactly what happened. This birth could be described in 2 words: lovingly joyful. It’s not surprising as every visit with Mom was always so nice. I knew her birth would be a fun one and it was an honor to be present in this birth space
I got the first call while my son and I were at the movies! This baby waited for the movie to finish before he was ready for the midwife.
When I arrived, Mom was smiling and excited to meet her baby. The birth photographer was snapping pictures as the kids helped me get my supplies ready. They always loved to help!
Soon after I arrived, things got serious and Mom got down to business. She worked her way through some contractions on the birth stool before getting into the water while her husband offered supportive words.
Once Mom got in the water, things moved quickly. Her husband and children were there through the whole thing. It was so wonderful to see how loved and supported she was. She is radiant in her birth tub.
Before long, baby boy was ready to meet his family.
Mom gently pushed one more time while squatting and he was born into her hands. We were watching in fascination at how calm and controlled Mom was during her labor.
The look of love and pure joy. Homebirth is really special and this picture perfectly captures that wonderment.
Not long after the birth, we got mom into bed and weighed the baby. Mom was so happy to be in her bed at home while grandma cooked some food for her.
Congratulations to this family. Thanks you for sharing your birth journey through these wonderful photos.
